Hillier is proud to be playing a key role in one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects: HS2’s Old Oak Common station. As part of our commitment to greening this future transport hub, we’re set to supply over 300 semi-mature trees for installation in 2028.
Located in West London, Old Oak Common is poised to become a major interchange connecting HS2, the Elizabeth Line, and National Rail services. With fast links to Heathrow, central London, the Midlands, and the North, the station is more than just a travel hub – it’s the centrepiece of a major regeneration plan to transform Old Oak and Park Royal into a thriving new commercial and residential district.

Behind the scenes, our team has been actively collaborating with key stakeholders including main contractors BBVS and landscape architects WSP. Monthly meetings have kept the momentum going, covering everything from nursery inspections and logistics to landscape design and commercial progress.
Next up is a nursery visit with BBVS on May 5th, where we’ll walk them through our production process and showcase the trees selected for this project.
One of the more exciting challenges we’re tackling is WSP’s vision for a more naturalistic landscape design, specifically encouraging the crowns of some trees to gently interwine. It’s an ambitious goal, especially given the number of upright fastigiate species involved, but we’ve proposed containerising the trees to allow for more precise shaping and flexibility during growth.
Tree tagging is already underway, and our chosen oaks are truly standouts, that will anchor the landscape of this landmark development. While shifting timelines keep us on our toes, we remain agile, proactive, and fully committed to delivering the highest quality trees when the time comes.
It’s an honour to contribute to such a transformative project, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we help shape the green future of Old Oak Common.
