The latest episode of BBC Countryfile shone a spotlight on the magnificent oak tree. The show highlighted the very real and extremely serious biological threats British oak trees face from imported diseases, including from the oak processionary moth. James Hillier, Sales Manager at Hillier Trees, made the case to presenter Tom Heap for much tighter import controls. The current regime, he explains, leaves too many loopholes and places the UK’s 121 million oak trees at serious risk.
