Sorbus aria ‘Majestica’ is a medium-sized tree, commonly known as the Majestica Whitebeam. It is a cultivar of Sorbus aria and has been carefully bred to showcase enhanced characteristics that make it standout wherever it is planted. It is faster growing than Sorbus aria ‘Lutescens’, and does not suffer the early leaf drop to which a ‘Lutescens’ is often susceptible. Leaves will remain on the tree well into November.
The Majestica Whitebeam boasts an upright form with a rounded crown and makes a versatile choice for various planting settings. It has larger elliptical leaves 10-15cm long. These are deeply lobed and have a silvery-white underside that creates a shimmering effect when it blows in the wind.
In spring, the tree produces small, fragrant flowers arranged in large clusters. As the season progresses, the flowers give way to clusters of small, red berries that persist into autumn.
Excellent on chalk and for exposed situations, including coastal.
