The medium-sized Prunus avium ‘Plena’ stands out as one of the most charming flowering trees. This cultivar, belonging to the cherry family, stands out as one of the loveliest flowering trees.
During late spring to early summer, branches of the ‘Plena’ are adorned with an abundance of dropping, double pure white flowers. Depending on the weather conditions, these flowers persist for at least 2-3 weeks. As the leaves unfurl, they showcase an initial bronze tinge that matures into a mid-green. The leaves are elliptical in shape.
Notably, the ‘Plena’ variety is sterile and does not produce fruit, unlike the fruit-bearing Prunus avium.
