Tilia cordata ‘Rancho’ commonly known as Small-Leaved Lime is a neater, and smaller leaved version of ‘Greenspire’. It was selected in Ohio, 1961 by E.H. Scanlon.

The foliage of the ‘Rancho’ is particularly appealing. Its small heart shaped leaves are a vibrant shade of green on top and grey-green on the underside. In autumn, the tree provides a wonderful golden display when its leaves turn a striking yellow. They will remain on the tree for some time.

During summer, the Small-Leaved Lime puts on a delightful show with its fragrant, creamy yellow blossoms. These are arranged in groups of 5-7 and are held on panicles. They attract a variety of pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Flowers eventually give way to thick brown nuts in autumn.

Resilience

Flowers are valuable for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
