Ulmus ‘Fiorente’, also known as Fiorente Elm, is a resilient, fast-growing elm hybrid originating from Florence, Italy. A cross between Ulmus pumila and Ulmus minor, this cultivar has been commercially available since 2008 and is part of the Resista® Elms range. Designed to thrive in a variety of urban and exposed environments, Ulmus ‘Fiorente’ combines beauty with exceptional disease resistance and structural resilience.

In spring, Fiorente leaves emerge in a glossy yellow-green hue, gradually deepening to mid-green during summer. The asymmetrical leaves are slightly rough on the upper surface and soft (pubescent) underneath. Come autumn, they shift into rich yellow tones and tend to persist into winter, making this tree the last of the Resista Elms to shed its leaves, an attractive feature for those seeking prolonged seasonal interest.

Thanks to its upright habit and quick establishment, Ulmus ‘Fiorente’ is perfect for street planting, avenue displays, parkland use, and coastal areas where wind resistance is important. It tolerates a range of soil types and urban conditions, including compacted soils and pollution.

As part of the Resista Elms collection, Fiorente is microchipped and licensed exclusively for production by Hillier in the UK. For contrast planting or layout variety, pair Fiorente with Ulmus ‘New Horizon’ or Ulmus ‘Rebona’.
